Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a method of soft tissue manual therapy to stimulate the brain-muscle connection to benefit poor posture and other issues. Over the last several decades, NMT has been used more often to treat, manage, and prevent soft tissue injuries and chronic muscle pain. NMT covers all area of pain management from acute to chronic and utilizes massage therapy, flexibility stretching, and home care techniques to bring balance to the nervous system and musculoskeletal system. Neuromuscular Therapy enhances joint performance, muscle movement, and provides natural pain relief through the natural release of endorphins.

Neuromuscular Therapy is used to treat several pain-causing aspects:

Distorted Posture
Poor posture offsets the body’s balance and causes an imbalance of the muscular system.

Trigger Points
Hypersensitive muscle junctions that direct pain to other parts of the body.

Ischemia
Restriction of blood supply to soft tissues, causes hypersensitivity.

Biomechanical Dysfunction
Muscular imbalance causes faulty and sometimes painful execution of routine movement patterns.

Nerve Compression
Nerves become trapped between tissue, cartilage or bone and are subject to constant levels of pain.
